About The Hop House
The Hop House started as a family business run by husband and wife team David Stanway & Christine Hamilton serving NZ's best craft beers along with tasty hamburgers from a historic ex-ice cream parlour in Mt Maunganui in 2015. We quickly grew a reputation for providing excellent service, exciting beers mashed with quirky events culminating in Lonely Planet naming us Best Spot 2017 for bars in the Mount. Unfortunately despite the growing momentum and great reviews, the building was sold to developers and demolished late 2017.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just had a heavenly take out meal from the Hop House, Yorkshire Pud, Horseradish Sauce, Roasty Potatoes, Perfect Cooked Roast Beef Slices, Honey Glazed Carrots, Wonderful Gravy...Oh utter joy, but wait there more. Followed by delicious Chocolate Cake, with a sumptious berry sauce and cream. At this point I ascended to food heaven. Cannot wait to have another treat like this one. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids love visiting the Hop House, it's become a Sunday lunch tradition. The food is great, particularly the burgers!. And the selection of craft beers is always fantastic and they also offer the best range of sour beers I've come across. We love our chats with Jack the barman who is always happy to talk about the new menu options, make suggestions and take time with the customers. Our kids even love his chats. David and the team are great and take the time to know what customers are looking for and sourcing it. This is one of the first places we take visitors from out of town to.
