★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I don’t normally leave google reviews but I strongly felt the need to warn potential people wanting to learn makeup at the Makeup School in Ponsonby of some things they don’t tell you on the website.
The most disappointing and unreasonable thing here is if you miss one class and want to make arrangements to learn what you have missed, the only options you have is to either:
1) Miss your class
2) Arrange for a private lesson
BUT, you need to schedule a minimum of 3 hours lesson for a total of $210 and the management person did not seem open to make any other potential arrangements such as an online session for their students during this unpredictable and sensitive time.
Just for your information, for the part-time makeup course, you only get around 1 hour of actual teaching each week.The rest of the 2 hours are for practical application on someone else and for them to practise on you. But for a private makeup lesson, we are expected to pay for 3 hours minimum.
The total cost of the course is $850 but students are expected to pay about 1/4 worth of tuition for one private makeup lesson. This is
That is unreasonable and a turn- off as there are extenuating circumstances where students are just unable to attend class “physically” especially at a sensitive time during a global pandemic.
I sincerely hope that there could be other options for students who are unable to attend class for example an online zoom or Skype session during the demo which shouldn’t be too hard to set up. I am aware that during lockdown the makeup school has hosted previous online sessions for its students but I just don’t understand why a virtual lesson during the demo is not permitted for students who are unable to attend the class in person.
It is very important for a business to adapt and change according to the environment and be flexible and understand for their students and think about it from their perspective. It is just disappointing that this place which I had high hopes for is unable to do that.
