β β β β β Really friendly staff and great service. Excellent beer. The food was delicious. The pub has an awesome atmosphere. The rooms are what you would expect in an old hotel (small and dated) and the noise from local nightlife goes on until 5am...BUT if you are wanting a night out in town, other pubs and sites within walking distance, and are not wanting to spend much time in the hotel room, this place is perfect. We had a fantastic date night and would stay again.

β β β β β Haven't been here in a while, but had the opportunity to catch up with someone for lunch and really enjoyed it. $19.50 for a cheese burger and fries with a house tap beer ticked all the boxes. We arrived early, but the place seemed to attract a crowd over lunch which was good to see. Must do it again!

β β β β β I was moving on from my job in Auckland city centre and booked the Shakespeare Tavern as the venue for my leaving drinks. Great choice and I recommend it unreservedly. The team was extremely helpful from start to finish. I reserved the first floor space (which also has its own private bar) and they were able to make sure that someone was upstairs to work this bar. Lots of tasty beers, good selection of food and a great atmosphere at the event. Easily located in Albert Street. Recommended.

β β β β β Not bad. Food is not really worth it but drinks are good and people are friendly enough. Note you can not enjoy happy hour there unless you are there to drink every day... lol so be prepared to spend your bucks. I dont think they should keep going with this attitude... especially these days.

β β β β β This is the worst place I have ever stayed hygiene wise. My partner and i arrived to a pretty dirty room where
-there was a thick layer of dust and socks from a previous guest behind the fridge
-dirt and dust on every surface, skirting and window tracks
-mould in the shower as well as brown water marks on the walls
-grime build up in the bowl of the toilet
Asked for a vacuum and wipe down of surfaces but came back to an unchanged room. Thank fuβ¬k the bed sheets were clean or i couldnβt have slept there.
So disappointing because the location is great, the staff were super friendly and the building is so beautiful, but the place is in desperate need of some love. Sad.

β β β β β I was gifted a brewery tour and I would highly recommend it. Shakespeare inn is NZ's oldest micro brewery and it preserves invaluable brewing and architectural history. We had a wonderful tour guide who was not only extremely knowledgeable but also very personable and welcoming. A great experience all round!
