The Village consists of local businesses working together to breathe new life into a growing rural community. Located at 1 Rothwell Lane, Whatawhata, we have a large off road carpark (off Rothwell Lane).

With a huge playground and heaps of other activities for the kids including animals, The Village Cafe is the perfect place to catch up with friends and family while enjoying excellent food and award winning Altura coffee. Head Chef Donna Friend, along with her team, provide healthy, delicious and fresh modern food. The menu features classic favorites as well as modern Kiwi fare. The selection of sweet and savories in the cabinet constantly change, with fresh new food being available. At The Village Cafe, we are proud to make all of our food that we sell here by our 4 chefs,
The playground is a hit with the kids and a great stop-off when travelling to burn some energy while enjoying the country ambience, feeding the animals and eating a range of beautiful food.

Lots for kids to do, playground and animals.
The food is both well priced and super tasty. The "Kids Box" is both a great price and a great variety of mini pizzas, Crackers, fruit and sweet treats.

Best eggs Benny I've had all year, and the waffles (pictured) are very instagrammable. (A bit too sweet if I was being really picky).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic potato salad with gherkins!!! The service was absolutely incredible. Made a booking for 13 people (we thought we did) turns out we accidentally booked somewhere else. The staff immediately laughed it off and arranged a table for all our family no big deal. You don't get service to this level, that easily. Great for kids with the park with animals too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely service, great staff and good coffee. However I wish there were more plant based options. I found that there were very few vegetarian options as compared to meat based options. Most cafes are now adding more vegan/vegetarian options. So it would be wonderful to see more plant based options :). Overall an amazing cafe with a cool vibe.
