Visited Tide restaurant today as we had heard about it through friends and family and wanted to try it out. We were not disappointed. The views from the exterior and inside of the restaurant are great. Love how all the doors slide back allowing the breeze from the sea to flow through. Had the big breakfast and eggs bene . Both were great. The staff were very helpful explaining the different things on the menu. Special mention to Jessie for her service. She also showed us the dinner menu so we were aware of what is available. Will certainly go back for dinner!!

Great food, really enjoyed the food. Cocktail was good for me but my partner found his to be slightly light.

Excellent location and fantastic view from our table. Service was very good. Menu was a bit limited but the starters and the main courses still had options for my wife and I. What we had was very-very good, one of the best steaks we've had. The starters were just as good. The food was up to the standard of similar priced restaurants. The only down side for us was the desserts - very ordinary. But we will be coming back.

I was so excited to try out this new restaurant and had very high hopes. The venue was beautiful although our experience was very disappointing and not worth it. Its not a seafood restaurant at all. I'm guessing it was the owner that came up to us as we approached the restaurant, I had booked a table for two, four days in advance and was told to wait well he checked for our booking, then told me he couldn't see our booking there...I had to show him the messages on Facebook, then he made us wait while he served other people. Finally we got to a table and there were heaps of dirty table's. The wait to order food and drinks was ridiculous! Even with three staff members on and only four or five other people dining in the restaurant...we weren't looked after until one other table of four had been taken to there table and ordered drinks. I had the truffle eggs benedict with bacon and scallops, the scallops were undercooked and I didn't taste any truffles and the one bit of toast I had was burned. The food did look good tho. My partner had the fish and chips, unfortunately the chips were tough and not tasty at all. The smashed peas didn't belong on the plate and the fish was overcooked. We won't be going back to this place as we had a bad experience and the food wasn't even close to good.or fine dining as I was expecting.

Went to Tide by chance - we were passing by and saw the sign. More than enough parking. Clean entrance and restaurant. Staff pleasant and polite. Water immediately placed on the table and menu handed to us. Good menu and prices on par with everywhere else in Whangarei. Beautiful, calming view of Onerahi and water. Highly recommended.

Somewhat disappointing, my entree of clams was gorgeous but the scallops were missing the roe. Tuna was overcooked and overpowered by baba ghanoush, overall not great. Crab mushy in the centre and missing guacamole. Cheesecake served with greasy, salty bacon crumb, ugh. Good cocktail though.

Food is expensive so we expected the meat to be high quality and cooked well, however we got we a dry duck ‘confit’, a burnt, soft and mushy skinned pork belly and a thin steak with little sear. The food was lukewarm at the table and many elements didn’t match or accompany themselves. The duck had unpleasant overly sour sauce and my pork was garnished with the the top of a carrot? The steak for $42 dollars was thin and had little to no sear. It lacked flavour, was dry and disappointing. We ordered eggplant and venison as starters. The eggplant was undercooked and the venison was bland. The chips were actually enjoyable, however were served with the most concentrated ketchup. There also were not many seafood options for a restaurant that is literally called tide. Would love to see more fresh fish on the menu. Minor improvements/ tweaks would drastically increase the quality of the food.

Fantastic location, friendly staff. Iced coffee were delish. Truffle eggs Benedict was really tasty as was the steak burger. French toast was average-not a fan of the fruit topping.
