About Tuwharetoa Health Charitable Trust
The design aims to reflect the essence of the land, waters and its people. The mountain indicates its place in the land and its spiritual and historical significance to the people of the area.
The koru within signifies the people and the life-giving forces of the waters that flow from the mountain to form the large lake at the base of the mountain. The base of the mountain is curved, signifying an imbalance. The raparapa or curves at the opposite side of the mountain maintains the balance.
The importance of maintaining “balance” is a reflection of the health and well-being of the people who live within its area.
