★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow I am so pleased we went in. We were a bit early and the place was empty. We sat in a well laid out garden bar. The food was really good. Antipasto plate was generous the curly fries well cooked and the chicken moist. Thanks to the friendly staff for their attention. We will be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We booked in with a group of 10 on a Saturday night, and had a great experience at Plateau. The food was very good, I had the fish of the day (Snapper) and it was perfect. The 'truffle fries' are recommended, sort of fries with garlic on them as far as I could tell. Would definitely go there again.

The ambience was lovely!
The service is 100/10, very efficient, kind, funny, and she did an amazing job (well done!)
The seafood and snack platters were amazing and just the right amount to share between 5 people.
Between us we had the steak, the calamari and prawn salad, the pork and the venison.... followed by the desserts.
This is an superb place to share a meal.
The food was to die for, mouthwatering and filling. The flavors are sensational and the ingredients very fresh.
Definitely will be dining here again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The atmosphere is good. The food is good but not authentic. For example, there is mayo like sauce in ceviche, not enough lime juice. The pork belly was crispy, but not perfect. Beef tataki was the best!
It would be greater value if booking with first table or sth having 50% on food. For full price, I expected better.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In Jan 2022 we held a reunion in Taupo for 23 people. The Friday night function was held at Plateau. From the initial discussions right through to the event itself, Kate (the Manager) was very helpful. We were given use of the private function room and part of the outside deck. The platters we enjoyed were amazing and the staff went the extra mile to ensure that our function went smoothly and was enjoyed by all. I highly recommend the venue and the team at Plateau if you are wanting either a casual meal (as we have enjoyed in the past) or want a great place to host a function for special people!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have eaten here a few times and enjoyed their excellent menu. The staff are friendly and helpful. We didn't book a table prior, so the front of house team made a table up to meet our needs with no pressure. Generally, when I eat here, I will always select fresh fish ? including trout if available. This visit included a large seafood platter for two and a great selection of beers?. Thankfully the seafood was not deep fried in batter! It was lightly cooked with perfect dips, sauces, fresh chilli, coconut broth, and limes. Nothing beats freshly cooked seafood from Aotearoa at very fair prices ? PS forgot to mention the desert was outstanding and a pleasure to view ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I went for a bit of a walk while I was in Taupo and part way through I was keen for a coffee and a bite to eat and coffee. I stumbled upon this place and was drawn in by the decor. The menu was tapas and I ordered two that looked good but there were a few more I would have ordered if I had a group. Both of the dishes that came out were excellent. Would be keen to come back for a dinner at some point. A great find!
