★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Umami fusion kitchen goes above and beyond as a stand-out restaurant that Tauranga needs. The dishes are so well executed it's hard not to choose everything on the menu. The sensory experience that is the pan seared scallops with wasabi custard - faultless, and I hope they never take it off the menu. Will definitely be back again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went for a work function. Had separate room for us which was perfect. One large table that comfortably sat 12 people. Nice to all be at the same table. We had a set menu and all of the food was punching with flavour and there was plenty of it. If you like a sweeter coffee try a Vietnamese coffee. I was pleasantly surprised, and will definitely take family back and try some more dishes.

The staff were very kind and helpful and walked us through all the meal portions because all the food is shared instead of being eaten alone. (Cultural Thing)

The flavour combinations are so good my favourite was the Beef tataki and pork bao buns. We left very full and the price for the amount of food we had was pleasantly surprising. Well worth the visit and another gem on our doorstop.

All the plates are well decorated and foods are great. I especially like the Japanese Eggplant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice ambience and a place with plenty of drinks to offer. Food wise, there is variety. Don't expect to find much Japanese kind of dishes but the Thai curry ones might be the closest one find to Asian taste. The service is fantastic, pleasant and friendly - explaining how the dishes are served to newbies like us. The cauliflower tempura is a must try. You can expect to foot out $50 per person if you intend to have a decent meal with a drink.
