★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lovely area to visit. Mostly older homes a lot across Road from the tidal flats. Great for kids. We saw ducks and ducklings, quail, oyster catchers and other bird life.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A picturesque view of the river while having your lunch. You can also launch a boat here, maybe 3 hours either side of full tide. You can also walk or ride out to the estuary entrance. Nice sights all the way. Unfortunately no toilets anywhere here. ?

Lovely to see the different types of birds.
There were not that many carparks available, but still worthwhile to sit and relax.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This reserve has been beautifully thought out and meanders along the Uretara River. The Bird Walk is interesting with its sculptures of many varieties of native birdlife including the giant moa! Information stations are dotted along the walkway. A tranquil place to walk, cycle or have a picnic. Some nice seating areas are a bonus.
