★ ★ ★ ★ ★ An awesome place to take dogs to frolic on the beach and in the water. Lots of rabbit poo for the discerning labrador. Pretty quiet in winter, and very tranquil. Worth making a trip if you are in the area.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Although the reserve may look exposed it is possible to do a nice walk around the point either on the sand or under some huge old oaks. There is a nice horse riding track. The car park allows 3 days of parking for self-contained caravans and motorhomes. There are lots of small pohutukawa tress lining the approach which were stunning. There is lots of grassy reserve to enjoy.
