very good service. vet nurse was very gentle with my cat and did the right thing when my cat had a bad reaction to syringe medicine. (just cat things, it's up to the cat and how they react. some like it, some don't)

from a friend Vets on Carlton in Whanganui are charging an extra add on fee for the unvaccinated. Our 15 year old dog was having seizures and I phoned up to get an appointment to have her Euthanised. ( it says in their ph message that the unvaxxed will have an extra fee but when your pet is seizing you still go) I was told I couldn’t go in until 5.30 so had over two hours of having to hold her with back to back seizures with her crying in agony and distress between each one. Got told I was to stay in the car and phone them when I arrived. ( my appointment was 5.30 so there was only me in the car park. A woman then came out and told me to walk out of the car park and along the footpath ( on a public street during 5 o’clock traffic carrying my dog that is seizing ) and go in the side gate they would have open. ( it wasn’t a long walk) I did this but the gate took me back into the exact same entrance that I would have gone in any other time we’ve been there in the past 10 years. Then through the empty waiting room. My husband had phoned to ask how much it would cost and had put the cost he had been told ( $115.) cash into an envelope which I handed to the vet. When I left I was let out back through the main entrance that I hadn’t been aloud in through. Husband rang them two days later and asked for an itemised account/ receipt to be sent out. Two and a half weeks later it still hadn’t been sent out so while in town I phoned and said I was next door and I was coming in to pick it up. I went in the front door and they had printed it and it was waiting for me but they had printed it out without mentioning the extra fee. I’d be very grateful if someone with a VP could phone them and ask how much it is to get a small dog euthanised. I’m currently in counselling for PTSD and being made to walk along the street with our wee girl in such a state of distress has traumatised me so much that two days later we lost our cat because I was too afraid to take him in to be treated.

I would recommend anyone to take there pets to calton vets, all staff members are very welcoming and pets a well taken care of they are main priority. Myself and my dog Tui will never forget the way we were taken care of. Tui is now passed but it is because calton vets that gave her that final peaceful ending. I will never forget the support and comfort we were given thank you calton vets for everything

Good friends to our furry friend. I love going here with my dogs they all have seem to have loved going here all the smells food and toys couldn't get Marco out of this place and now my new dog puppy loves going here too. The vets are so great with the dogs would well recommend using these guys. Cheers

We had arranged with another vet practitioner for 2 cattle to be dehorned and after about 2 hours of getting them to where they should be the night before I had a. Call in the morning cancelling. I rang Vets on Carlton at lunchtime and they sent a veterinarian up to our place by 2.30. Conditions and facilities weren’t perfect but The vet David was brilliant start to finish 45 minutes no messing, cattle successfully dehorned and up and about the next day. A big relief as we were running out of pasture for them , and university fees due - a weight off my shoulders. Much appreciated David keep up the good work

Great team here, my puppy (a bully breed) was not stereotyped but is warmly welcomed by all staff on each visit. Quick same day appointments for emergencies and a text reminder service.

Not sure who the female was that was manning the emergency calls on or about Sunday late feb/early March at 8am but you may consider some retaining when it comes to showing some compassion. Rang to say my dogs health had gone down hill quickly over the weekend and that he was suffering and could I have a vet do a house visit and put him to sleep. I was told that they don't do house visits on a Sunday and I would have to bring him into the clinic. After explaining that my dog was 45kg and that I couldn't lift him as I live by myself I was told bluntly that I would have to wait till Monday for a house visit. My dog died early Monday morning.
