About Unique Whanganui River Experience
Unique Whanganui Experience managing director is Hayden Potaka has a team of Cultural Navigators that have all been on the Tira Hoe Waka wananga, trained Iwi knowledge and have a strong knowledge of the river. They have also been technical in swift water rescue and hold current first aid certificates. Hemi Gray is our lead cultural navigator and has ability to bring a group of individuals together and create a fantastic team of friends. Most trips start with formal handshakes, but end with hugs all round.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ End of Feb 2021 I joined a wonderful group to complete the 5 day adventure of paddling & exploring the Whanganui River. We had 2 amazing, fun & caring guides, Hone & Connor, who made our journey down the river an absolutely amazing experience. The sights were breathtakingly magical & unbelieably beautiful. Hone’s & Connor’s knowledge of Maori culture & history of the region made the journey even more special, I loved every moment, thank you to my awesome group & guides for creating & being part of my magnificent memories! Totally recommend!
