About Visa Matters - Licensed Immigration Advisers
David Mills worked for Immigration New Zealand (INZ) for 17 years, mainly in management roles. His last position was as Branch Manager in Beijing. He has spent 15 years in Asia, first studying Chinese in Beijing for three years, then working at INZ at the NZ Embassy for six years as an immigration manager.
David has also worked as INZ Branch Manager in Singapore, Manila, Wellington and INZ Operational Support.
David was first licensed as an immigration adviser in 2015 and has taught the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in New Zealand Immigration Advice courses at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology since 2014.
In his role at Visa Matters, David provides strategic advice on how best to approach client cases to maximise the chances of success. David does not represent clients.

I had originally applied for my partnership residency visa almost 2 years ago before I found myself in a situation which meant I was no longer eligible for residency unless a character waiver was granted. This made my case quite a complex one. We applied for the character waiver under Ankur’s guidance late in 2020 and sadly it was denied early 2021.
This meant that I had to leave NZ and my wife and head back to the UK while we appealed the decision of INZ. It made things a lot harder with time differences and whatnot but Ankur was always prompt with his emails and correspondence with myself and my wife who was still in NZ!
Thanks to Ankur’s efforts we won our appeal and the residency application process was started again! After close to a year of back and forth with INZ providing fresh evidence and anything else they asked of us we finally received news that my residency visa had been granted last week and I now have a flight booked to get back to NZ and back to my wife and home, again, thanks you Ankur for all your efforts in making this happen and for being so patient and understanding with the hundreds of questions we have thrown at you over the last 2 years!!
