★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want to know more about Maori enquire at the Marae office beside Waikawa Rd. This is a centre with great hall which you may visit with permission. Maori handle native timbers, stone and green stone with great skill. Examples of their work can be seen here. Tribal histories are told in carved details. Don't be shy, ask.
