★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quiet pleasant spot, ive had to walk past here to get to the Whakanui Trail entrance behind which is poorly signposted. Id suggest going up sunny grove entrance to the Whakanui trail instead. This garden has a dawn service on ANZAC day...

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Looks excellent at this time of year, but unfortunately the brand new looking toilets were locked. Speaking to several locals they have been locked for a while apparently.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A lesser-known place to start and end a day tramp in the Southern Remutakas. It has a carpark, a stream, shaded seating, proximity to the tracks, a large grassed recreational area, and even a public lavatory although this was locked when we were there. The graves are an un-looked for but remarkably interesting adjunct to outdoor recreation.
