★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The views and tranquility are highly recommended. The best part for us was getting to see a 45ish year old Kauri so we knew exactly what to look out for in the drive through the forest afterwards. The road however is very rough. When we visited one road was closed, and the other had a long section of fresh large deep gravel with not really space to change your mind and turn around. If you’re not in a 4WD be careful of your windscreen and tyres. No mobile coverage on any network if you get stuck.
