We choice the Cultural Experience what is a story telling on the Waka in the harbor. Even though we booked 1 day in advance every thing was arranged quick and smooth.
We felt very welcome onboard and got the cultural greeting and introduction. The story was very interesting and easy to follow for non-native speakers, and also quite impressive coming from such a knowledgeable person. It contains various perspectives, reasons and island where the migration to New Zealand started. It include showing tools and explanation about different types of Waka’s. We also got a tour around and in the Waka that has is harbor in Gisborne what is the same type as the one’s that sailed recently over the pacific ocean. We were free to ask any questions about the Waka, different cultures, sailing, navigation and traditions.
The crew was super welcoming, open and enthusiastic and it didn't felt super staged at all like some other experiences in NZ. Also Seda was a really warm hearted, social host who really took the time with us (double the time than originally noted we found out later, sorry for that :)). It was really small scaled which we genuinely liked. We would totally recommend this tour if you would like to open up to the real NZ culture which you don't get to see/hear every day (at least we didnt in the past 14 months we have been travelling here).

The sailing also looked/sounded really nice, but we didnt do that one so cannot comment on that.
