About Wellington Marina Berths
Ownership and management
Ownership and management of the marina is via the holding company Chaffers Marina Holdings Ltd (“the Holdings Company). The Holdings Company has incorporated a separate subsidiary, Chaffers Marina Ltd (“the Marina Company”), which holds the Deed of Licence for the marina site. The Deed of Licence expires in 2058 and is issued by Wellington Waterfront Ltd, (originally Lambton Harbour Management Limited) a Wellington City Council controlled organisation.
Each shareholder of the company has the right to a Marina Berth Licence which sets out the terms and conditions for occupation of a berth within the marina until the expiry of the Deed of Licence.
The Marina Company charges berth-holders a monthly licence fee and maintenance fee, does not make a profit and no dividends have been paid out to shareholders. The Marina Company occupies an office and marina facilities in the northern end of the Clyde Quay Wharf building. A General Manager, Administration Manager and Dock Master are employed by the Marina Company to manage the marina and associated facilities.
