I am not a registered patient but needed to book a local COVID test. I highly recommend the Whangamata Medical Centre. The staff were all so lovely and made sure that I was able to be seen ASAP for peace of mind.

Had a really pleasant experience with most of the staff there. One of the receptionists was rather rude over the phone but on arrival, the younger receptionist was friendly, and accommodating. The nurse was lovely. Very considerate and caring. As for the doctor, Jess, I was blown away with her service and empathy. She got down on the floor to play with my daughter who was a little distressed, was so calm and caring. She even called later on in the day to check how she was getting on. The world needs more doctors like her. We had to visit the call in/drop in clinic and although it was busy, we were seen within the hour.

Worst medical experience of my life and I have lived in several third world countries. I went to this clinic after a motorcycle accident. I had a few open wounds and my finger was dislocated, the nursing staff essentially ignored my wounds and then I waited approximately 3 hours to see a doctor who essentially told me he could do nothing for me, except get me an ambulance to Hamilton. After agreeing to this nonsense I was told there were no ambulances available and that they couldnt book one for the next day as I would have to come into the clinic and wait again. Now my finger is permanently crooked because it was not re-set within the 24 hours after the accident, thanks alot. This clinic should be shut down for negligence, on top of everything they had the nerve to send me a bill for an ACC consultation even though one was not done and I received no paperwork. If you are hurt in whangamata, call st. Johns, dont waste your time seeing these crooks.

Staff have an attitude. Appointment made, no patients and staff saying to each other talking about how there are no patients. 45min wait.... go elsewhere if you can.

Not happy at all The team had my babys medical info wrong and gave my infant an extra dose of the rotovirus jab he had already had at 3 months. They insisted when were told at the beginning that this was his 3 month jab but we had informed them it was his 5 month one. Not impressed with them They did apoligize profusely at the end but that's no excuse for getting something wrong. It would have been great if they had double checked at the beginning BEFORE they jabbed him. I definitely advise you to triple check all info thoroughly BEFORE you're getting jabs of any kind!

Attention was faultless however perhaps more clarity needed re hiring crutches. Told I would get my money back when returned ($100) but when took them back only got $25 which was disappointing. A&E Tauranga were surprised at hire cost where I had follow-up treatment, as they said they charge $35 as that is what it costs A&E to purchase.

After 7 months of tolerating a finger that I can't bend or or straighten (and that looks deformed), progressively increasing pain through my hand and wrist, and Whangamata Medical Centre telling me there is nothing wrong with it during repeated visits - I have finally had it confirmed by Thames Hospital that my finger is broken. Whangamata Medical Centre is a prime example of what happens when there is no competition and nowhere else to go. Anyone could tell just by looking at my finger that it was broken yet this medical centre sent me away twice and told me to "squeeze a stress ball", Despite living in Whangamata I will continue to travel to Auckland for GP visits. No way would I trust this place with my health. Every time I have gone there I have left feeling unheard and as though they are just annoyed by my presence. To top it off I was charged $60 ACC surcharge for each visit / lack of treatment.
