Very helpful at sorting me out with a discount card ready to be used straight away.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place for stationery. Conveniently located within South City Mall. For the bookworms, there's a huge range to choose from. There's also a limited range of kids' educational toys. Products are priced very reasonably and they have great customer service too.

Friendly service except she forgot to ask for my loyalty card... (I heard the customer after me of similar age to her being asked) Oh well. Overall it's a good shop.

No greeting even tho we were the only customers in the shop, no offer of help, no bag offered to put the 5 purchases into and no ‘thank you’ as I paid over my $130.00!!
Over all a very poor customer service experience. After being a mystery shopper for 6 years I feel the basics in retail customer service need to be addressed and fast!

The saddest book store in town. Proof that Whitcoulls NZ is sinking into oblivion. Whitcoulls South City has it all: drab facilities, low stock, and terrible customer service. The unpleasant employees are incredibly unhelpful. Expect long waiting periods, uncomfortable silences, and fake grins that are as false as the teeth in a cadaver.
This is a place where books go to die. As, apparently, do career aspirations. There is a complete lack of knowledge or enthusiasm. This used to be a good store under manager Craig Anthony, years ago. Now it's one big flickering neon sign that says: "We Gave Up".
I've been in here twice, and both times felt sorry for anyone trapped there. The store is so unappealing now and the service so miserable that I half expect a sign behind the counter (which somehow is always messy with loose papers?) proclaiming: "We hate being at Whitcoulls South City as much as you do".
It's hard to describe how unappealing Whitcoulls South City is to potential customers.
Imagine throwing a bad yellow toupee on a sallow-faced Trump lookalike, and sending it to a children's birthday party as a creepy clown. That's the vibes.
