About us Wood cellar has been manufacturing furniture on the North Shore in Browns Bay, Auckland area for over thirty years. “We produce top quality New Zealand made furniture, that lasts"! In fact we have customers coming back after twenty plus years, asking us to refurbish their furniture! This is a service we offer to our customers only. We are unique in the way that we work. Customers come to us with an idea of what they want, and we talk them through the design process. Taking into account type of timber, finish, space, what the unit is to be used for, ventilation in the case of entertainment centers, and most importantly taking in to account the customers needs. We only sell direct from our factory, so you will be in contact with our very experienced furniture maker. He has over 40 years experience, of making high quality furniture. Some of the timbers we use to make our furniture, are American Oak, American Ash, Malaysian Kauri, Macrocarpa, Euro Beech, Maple, Mahogany, Kwila and New Zealand Native timbers when available eg. Rimu, NZ Silver Beech, Matai, Tawa, Swamp Kauri etc.... We encourage you to come and visit us at our factory, there you can browse through our extensive range of photos. We recommend phoning before hand, as we can sometimes be away from the factory, doing a delivery, working on site or picking up timber. At the factory you can see some examples of furniture, that is being built right now. You can then discuss with our highly experienced furniture maker & furniture designer, all the options for your special piece of furniture. Wood cellar makes a large variety of custom made furniture, the examples in our Gallery photos are just a small sample of some that we have made in the past. โ โ โ โ โ In 2016 I used Woodcellar, in Browns Bay to build a free standing bench seat. The owner was aggressive and abusive when I pointed out to him that he hadn't followed my brief. He didn't listen, he ignored requests from both my husband and I and told me I was a typical woman changing her mind every minute which was sexist AND incorrect (despite sending him photos of the seating I wanted copied). There are many fine distinctions that if he'd only been willing to listen would have improved the final design.
His workmanship was good (not excellent) but his awful level of service has severely imped our joy at having this unit built.
He complained about money A LOT, saying that he'd given us an amazing deal. But it never felt like that as his constant complaining about the cost of the unit (he quoted & we accepted - we didn't haggle the price at all) every time we met with him felt like we'd over paid!!!!

โ โ โ โ โ We went to the Wood Cellar to have our bedroom furniture made 18 years ago. They made us two sets of drawers, two bedside tables and a headboard. They looked good then and they still look good today. The workmanship is superb and the drawers all function well today. Thank you so much. Would recommend them to anyone.

โ โ โ โ โ I used the Wood Cellar to manufacture and install some custom solid wood cabinetry and shelving in our lounge.
We were very particular about some of the design details, but Bernie was more than happy to accommodate everything we asked for and worked to the sketches / details we provided. The cabinetry is first class and was installed on-time and on-budget. It is a great feature in the room and gets lots of positive comments. We have recommended the Wood Cellar to several friends who have also been delighted with the units they had made.

โ โ โ โ โ I am extremely happy with the service I received from Bernie and Angela including Bernie giving me good advice on the best fit for my home office. I particularly liked how I was given a good choice of drawer handles to choose from too. My desk is beautifully made & is super sturdy and was delivered ahead of the promised date. Paying extra for a one off quality desk rather than a store brought one is well worth it in my opinion. Highly recommended.
