★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing hike. Not an easy one, but very rewarding. You have to open and close the main gate before you head up to the car park. The road (400m)was a bit rocky but my little rental car survived. I met a few lovely locals and they showed me where to get the best views. Towards the end (after 40mins walk from the car park) The signboard (route) says go left but you need to keep going right to see the best views.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful view of the city!! Make sure when you see the arrow pointing the track to the left you go right instead to reach the platform! This is a must go in QT.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really lovely treck. The dam and views are stunning the whole walk.
It is a bit step and gives your legs a good workout but its very rewarding and would definitely do it again just with the amazing platform at the end overlooking the lake and Queenstown.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The entrance to this track is not very discernible from the highway. The turnoff is just a small sandy/gravel space that fits one car , then you’ll need to get out of your car to unlock the gate before you can drive in. The DOC sign for this track is literally parallel to the road so you don’t see it until you stop at the turnoff. I missed it the first time and had to turn back to find it.
Once you get past the gate, you will drive up about 100m of gravel road to another open space that fits about 10 cars. Beyond that point, only 4WD are allowed so the rest of us need to walk up the zigzagging gravel slopes to the starting point. This part is similar to Roy’s Peak. There’s a toilet at the start point for those who need it.
The difficulty and terrain of this track is similar to tiki trail in Queenstown central (from bottom of the skyline gondola to the top). Equally rocky and narrow, and steep. But it’s shorter- I took 20-30min to reach the dam with a small waterfall. From there, the sign says turn left but you should go right . It’s a flat but narrow plank walk (warning to those with fear of heights) to the real treasure of this track - majestic waterfalls that u can see from the carpark and the view of the lake!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not sure where the lower wye creek track finished, so I kept walking the full track but I didn't finish this one. In one part you have to jump a river 2 times using some rocks, so it could be a little challenging for some people. After that you keep walking close to the right side of river. Only lower wye creek track has arrows that show the track. The full track doesn't have it and it's not well marked so it's easy to lose it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice walk up the hill through scrub and Bush patches. Veer right over the creek where the Wye Route proper starts and walk along the boardwalk to a wooden helicopter pad where you can get great views over the lake. About 50 to 60 mins each way.
