Zelati is proud to be a family-run business.
The journey started as a fun project, taking food-trips attending chocolatier courses. Alberto’s travels eventually took him to Italy, where he trained as a Maestro Gelatiere and learnt the art of gelato-making from the best.
Taking his knowledge back home, the initial testing and production runs took place in the family’s garage which had been converted into a commercial space. Many late nights were spent brainstorming, developing and perfecting the recipes (with the family as very willing taste-testers).
The youngest member of the family also grew up with food allergies, so it was important to create a range of products that could be enjoyed by everyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Zelati provides pretty decent vegan ice cream, with some tough competition from 3 other places on cuba street. I rate them the best though, because they really deliver on the extras, from the melt in your mouth brownies to their decedent waffles. They make some pretty top tier vegan cookies too!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ordered chocolate fondant ice cream, mango float and halo-halo sundae. I must say that we enjoyed it a lot. It gives a good spin to our favorite desserts like mango graham cake and halo-halo. I would recommend paying them a visit when in town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Place is a pure gem. Wellingtonians love their ice cream but zelati really offers something different.
Close to Cuba and vegan friendly. I got the WOAP burger, and was mindlown. The amazingly soft pandesal ube bun (I now have cravings for pandesal), the subtle but creamy cheese ice cream (with pretzels for crunch) was perfect, also awesome that it's got a Filipino touch.
I also usually don't like churros but these were light, not too sweet (the dark chocolate sauce for it was really dark - delicious).
Epic spot. Can't miss it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect wee dessert stop the other day at @zelati – I’ve been eyeing up the Baklava Ala Mode for such a long time so finally went and got it – Crushed pistachios, rose petals, saffron rose gelato on a pistachio baklava ring ? We also got the chocolate brownie sundae which looked and tasted phenomenal! Definitely one for a sweet tooth like me ? Perfect way to end the weekend ☀️
