Abbey Caves is an undeveloped network of three caverns full of glowworms and limestone formations, 6km east of town. Take a torch, strong shoes, a mate for safety and be prepared to get wet. The surrounding reserve is a forest of crazily shaped rock extrusions.

Great place to go with 6yrs plus kids. Do go with headlights and helmet for safety measures. Great experience

Absolutely gorgeous walk that starts about 100m up the road from the carpark. Stairs take you down to a well defined path. Caves are great for those more adventurous however a torch is a must.

A hidden gem! Probably my new favorite place in the area. Greatly undersold in the beauty both above and below ground. Absolutely worth a visit. Cave entrances are a bit steep and slippery, but we were able to negotiate them with two very young kids. We didn't go far, this time, but even just a short way in they're amazing The tracks are quite easy, with options to wander in the bush to check out some of the amazing rock formations.

Superb walk with some action (walk down the limestone caves) if you dare. Good parking pas the caves signpost. Drive through to ngunguru (cafe and dairy) if you have the time.

My daughter was keen as to get right in there & explore inside but unfortunately this mama thought It'll be a good idea to visit caves wearing jandals so this is as far as I got. Either way it's a 10/10 for me

It's also nice track with a lot of interesting looking rocks. There are 3 holes there, not too hard to get down, not easy to go further. But do read the sign in the beginning to avoid any hazard.

Amazing place 3 caves to explore all are partly filled with water. If you want to explore them properly come when there is good weather (no chance of rain and flooding) to get in to them you will climb down a few boulders and then wade about exploring. The floor is slippery and you might end up in the water so best have a waterproof torch!
