Good Food, Good Vibes in a unique, groovy atmosphere. Abracadabra is a dream come true for owners Alina & Shail Chourasia with their two young kids Elicia (7) & Kiara (4) who share a combined lifetime love for good food, cooking & hospitality and enjoying a meal out with friends and family alike. They bring a wealth of experience having had multiple hospitality businesses. ( The Storehouse cafe in Taupo, go check it out) as well as other venues. Abracadabra with its groovy atmosphere and quirky layout fittet right into what both of them loved as long time customers prior to purchasing the business when it came on the market. It was a no brainer for these two.
Abracadabra Cafe & Bar is set in a vintage 1940s house that offers two charismatic private rooms for meetings, parties or intimate experiences. With a rustic bohemian feel, we are a Cafe by day with a tropical Garden Bar to spend sunny afternoons relaxing and a Restaurant & Bar by night.
We offer an extensive range of wholesome delicious homemade cakes & savories, vegan treats, vegetarian & kiwi style meals. We support local businesses by serving their fresh fish, meats, and produce.
We are known for our popular cocktail menu & we support Rotorua wine makers Volcanic Hills Winery & Croucher Brewing craft beer.
Our goal is to cook for you & provide a rustic, bohemian unique ambiance so that you may feel inspired, connect with loved ones & make new friendships.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to spend quality time. Very private, spacious and lovely vibe. Hidden gem in the town. Yum food they serve.
They have heaps of options for food, coffee and cocktails as well.
Lovely and friendly staff and a quick service.
Recommended to everyone if you are in search of cozy place with great food and drink options.
Outdoor sitting is the best option to have breakfast with chirping birds ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Shocking , won't be back. Food nice , but no service . Staff appeared not to give a toss . Would have had coffee dessert if offered. Very dissatisfied. Could also do with a good clean . I'm very disappointed as I recommended the venue as last I was there it was fabulous.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Grabbed some lunch there. Menu didn't speak to me but that's no reflection on them. Went with the marinated chicken breast, salad, and chips. Oh my, the chicken was very succulent - superbly hard to do, so someone knows what they are doing in that kitchen. Chips were perfect too. Partner had the French toast and left nothing on the plate.... But only just. We will be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The long wait was disappointing. They weren't even all that busy but it took at least 20 minutes for the French Toast and then at least another 15 minutes to get our other two dishes out. We weren't informed, either.
The Pulled Pork Burrito was as fantastic as I'd hoped, though :) delicious and super filling!
Apparently the French Toast and Mediterranean Platter were good but nothing special.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had my cousins 21st there over the weekend, my family was highly impressed with the food that was served!! I personally had the steak meal and it was cooked to perfection! My brother had ribs and also absolutely loved his meal! Thank you to the kitchen team for the lovely meals! We will definitely be back ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really warm and welcoming on a cold windy evening. We ordered a mix of tapas and loved them all. Jalapeño toppers were very well received as they were different from any we had, had before . Loved my mock-tail “tropical storm”

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We ordered entrées for dinner, it was a first time here. The Jalapeños were quite spicy but to my liking. We weren't really fond of the Chilli prawns.The meatballs and baby ribs were nice. The garlic cheese bread was YUMMY! I also enjoyed the Coconut Green Tea, good size pot.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Cute cafe! A separate vegan menu stole our hearts. Plenty of options! Delicious food and good value for money. Our dishes were really generous. Lovely staff and ambiance♡♡. Has a deck very well protected from the cold, with heaters and see through plastic curtains. The owner clearly put thought into every little corner. Yummy but still healthy, smoothies, mains, salads and cabinet food. Will be back!
