★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A good place to go with a big group for a weekend. Plenty of options for kids while staying there. Highlighted by the kids enjoying the lava caves (on accessible upon arrangement with the ranger)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The only good thing about this campsite is the location and the views. Toilets are disgusting and the guy working was unfriendly. We also werent able to enter the campsite for more than half an hour, because we did not get the code for the gate per email, also after 25mins noone picked up the phone at Auckland Council to help us. A fellow camper had to let us in. Even tho it seems like the majority likes this site, our experience was horrible.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great campground, good facilities, good spot, friendly animals, good views. Only complaint is that the chickens will invade your campsite and try and steal your food. CUTE/10 But also annoying, overall a good place to stay as long as you don't need a powered campsite.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ There are few locations left in Auckland city where you can overnight in a designated camp ground. This is one of the best. Set in the middle of a working farm, it is an ideal family oriented site. Ten out of ten.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Family friendly, has few BBQ places you can use during summer (requires pre bookings). Lots sheeps, 2 beautiful horses called Colin and Connor - always appeared to be well trained and well behaved. Currently the Watercare coastline walk is closed to the public. It probably takes you an hour and half to two to complete the walk.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great experience to camp at the Ambury Park Campground. We were looking to stay at a ordinary campground close to the airport and found a little paradise 20 minutes away from it. The owner is so very nice and the campsite itself is beautiful with chicken running around and many animals to watch. We especially loved to take a walk at sunset to the volcanic beach, which is only 2 minutes away.
The toilets are very basic but if you are looking for a place full of life and nature and conveniently close to the airport if Auckland, it’s the best place to stay!
