Peaceful and beautiful spot for relaxation. Despite some unseasonal rain, my son and I have loved the stay. Easy walking, fishing off the jetty, bird watching and our hosts have available to give advice as needed.

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon and were so happy. The room that we had had an amazing view of the Sounds and we were able to use a double person kayak for free to do some exploring. Kitchen, bedroom and bathroom were all of a high quality. Thank you!

This is a great location for activities on the Queen Charlotte sound or track. We took a guided kayaking tour of the sound one day, rented mountain bikes the next, and toured around Renwick and Blenheim on our third day. Anakiwa is quiet and beautiful; we enjoyed walking along the shore just steps from our room in the evenings. We had the β€œOld Verandah” for 3 nights and the β€œShed” for our last night. We really enjoyed the balcony outside the β€œOld Verandah” with its view of both the sound and the lovely surrounding gardens. Both rooms were lovely and comfortable. The kitchen was well furnished and spacious as was the indoor living area. The outdoor dining spaces were delightful as well. Shayne and Tanya are friendly, attentive, and gave great advice for our various activities. We look forward to staying there again on our next trip to Marlborough.

Anakiwa 401 is much more than just a "hostel," it is an excellent self-catering guesthouse (as mentioned in their website description). My wife and I stayed there for three nights in August, during the winter off-season, and we were the only ones there. The setting was peaceful and very relaxing. The hosts were extremely accommodating and made us feel like we were home! Perfect location for kayaking, hiking the QCT, and wine tasting.

We stayed here for two nights and loved the space! We didn't get to enjoy it as much because we got rained out, but it's decently close to towns around it. If you're looking for a lake retreat and the forecast doesn't call for rain, I highly recommend it! Theres several different living options for travel groups of all kinds. Hosts are friendly and the space is clean!

Had 2 nights here with my Aunty. Had never stayed in a lodge before but i was not disappointed. Enjoyed the others we met in the well equipped communal kitchen. Location is peaceful and very close to the beach. Kayaks were free for guests. Beds were super comfortable. House is right at the very start of the Queen Charlotte walkway so brilliant if you're planning a day or 2 on the track. Really enjoyed our stay in 'the old shed' and wished we'd booked for another night. Thanks Tanya and Shayne.

Located right on the end of the Queen Charlotte Track it's well worth making a stop to relish the location and celebrate the walk. Hosts Tanya and Shayne made us feel completely welcome and at home. The apartment is well set up for a comfortable self sustained stay. Thoroughly thoroughly recommended.

We booked a last minute getaway for 3 nights. From the start Tanya and Shayne were awesome and so helpful. They gave us options when we couldn’t get our car on the ferry including options to get food to the property. When we arrived the service went up even further. They were always available but never intrusive. Always happy to chat or share information. They accommodated our service dog with ease which is not often the case and made the holiday a success for our son as a result. The location as many have said is awesome, plenty of people to say hello to without ever being busy or overwhelming. Right by the water for kayaking and swimming. The rooms are to a high standard especially for the price, the beds particularly notable for being supportive and enabling good sleep. Super happy we chose to stay!
