This was really wonderful experience. Hostels can be really bad experience, but here the owners are really doing a lot for you to feel like at home. Amazing kitchen, lots of outdoor space and I think there were two chillout rooms? I loved it there and I can only wish to be back one day.

I'm not sure I'm reviewing the same place as some of the reviewees. We arrived late due to a late ferry and found our room easily. However in the light of day it was a bit disappointing. There was a lot of rubbish under the bunks, the window sills had more than a few days worth of flies on them. There was no smoke alarm in the room. A dirty ashtray and cup was left on our little deck. The dead Christmas tree and other demonstration material had been left on the side of a walkway, and were a trip hazard. The kitchen was clean, the outside shower needed a good clean. It's a great close to town location though.

I fell in love with β€žThe Villaβ€œ from the first moment. So many lovely details, making you feel home. Had a room Right beside the street but barely heard the cars. Nice staff and a Spa. It’s an old one but still nice to relax in hot water with all the lights around in the garden. Will be back if I’m in the area again. Thank you

Not impressed by any means. After a long day of driving I was looking forward to a hot shower and a comfortable bed. Shower was cold and plug didn't drain properly. The towels in my room had holes in them. There was no one to greet me at reception. Just a note pinned to the board on the closed door. Check-in was until 9.30pm and I was there before 9. Bed very soft and sagged in the middle. Would not recommend this place.

Epic hostel in such a good location, I'll definitely visit again. The only downside was I couldn't see any lockable storage areas for valuables, but there were no issues. Highly recommend

One of the nicest hostels I've stayed at in the South Island. Hot tub, good kitchen, good shower, nice room, the only thing they could do better is add some cereal and milk to the free "breakfast", which is just toast. And upgrade the two slice toaster so more than one person can use it. Nice stay all in all!

The moment you walk in, it feels like coming into a cozy home. Our private room was big, with beautiful windows and a comfortable bed. In general, the house is huge with a nice garden and plenty of parking space. It was easy to do our self check-in, everything you need to know was at the reception door and in the envelope everybody gets. Kitchen, bathroom and living area were always clean. Two things I would mention is that the walls were pretty thin so when the couple in the room next to us had their alarm going off at 4AM for several minutes, it woke us up. It was also cold in the hostel, the rooms have heaters though so it was okay once you're back in your room.
