When we opened our first store in Christchurch in 1995, our dream was to create a true pet superstore that could offer the complete pet experience and help New Zealand be the best pet parents they can be.

β β β β β Omg this store is huge lol, just like my rabbit Jet bun. I went into Animates to buy a treat for Jet, I got 1 wooden chew treat and a salt block for her. There's so much more items to see, for Yr cat, dog, fish, Guinea pig, from food to collars, leads and toys. You gotta go experience the good in thst amazing store

β β β β β Second time in the last two weeks that I've gone to this store. First time ok I guess but not overly friendly. Went there today to give dog a special birthday bath. Was told it was in use and waiting time was 20 minutes which was fine. Realized about 10 minutes later it was not in use at all so went to purchase a token for the bath. Another customer had just purchased his token and was off to bath his dog. We were then told we would have to wait another 20 minutes and they went back to what they were doing. I went to talk to the manager but basically got brushed off. Will never go back to this store. Disgusting service

β β β β β Splendid shop. Amazing array of pet products are available. They always have whatever I need. The displays arr logically arranged. It makes finding products easier.
Staff sre super friendly. They are very enthusiastic, They appear to be knowledgeable and systematic. Great! Prices are a bit high - but they are on a par with other petshops.
I'll be back.

I popped in a few weeks ago and this lovely Pacific Islander or Maori lady helped me find suitable things for my kitten as I'm a first time pet owner, she was so keen on helping and was very informative which I loved, excellent customer service I will definitely be back and hope to get help from her again.

β β β β β I only stopped outside on the truck stop pull over at the front but I haven't asked to do a review because my phone was close to the front gate. It looks clean and tidy and mostly sunny although it is near to the south slope of the bay. I'm sure it's a fabulous place to stay

β β β β β Staff were friendly and conversational, and very knowledgeable about products. Were able to give me recommendations and advice based on their lived experience, which I always appreciate when it comes to dog-life.
The shop layout is medium-sized, well-signed and navigating around the store seemed intuitive.
