★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The drive here is stunning and all accommodations provide excellent views. There are many walking tracks. The Hooker Valley track and Tasman Lake tracks are highly recommended.
The downside of staying in the village is lack of a supermarket, so you have to stock up at Twizel (45min drive) before coming here. There are only 3 restaurants, all of which are relatively expensive. We have no regrets staying here though. Just plan carefully to keep food costs down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stunning scenery in every direction as you drive up to Aoraki / Mt Cook from Twizel. There are so many walking and hiking trails. With clear skies, views of the mountains and Tasman Glaciar were spectacular.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful place with a fantastic scenery! You should definitely check out the DOC tourist visitor centre. The best walk to do here is the one to the Mueller Hut, which has some stunning views when you walk up the mountain. It's possible to do it in 6 hours return, but the track is recommended for people with a good fitness and some experience with tramping.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It's once in a lifetime experience to visit such a tranquilizing place. Not much of population and remote. Beautiful landscape. Quiet and blissful place. You got everything here. Bush walk, treks, scenic flight and helicopter tour of glaciers, glacier lakes, rivers and mountain peaks covered in snow. It's simply mesmerising place.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing place, beautiful scenery, not too be missed on your South Island holiday. May great walking tracks and photo opportunities. Just remember you are a long way from your nearest shops. A very special part of New Zealand.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We haven't stayed in the hotel but had a coffee in the cafe which was delicious. Visited the info centre in the village where is a museum located as well. Very informative and nicely presented! The whole village has beautiful views and its the starting point for your day when you are coming to do some walks or hikes. Staff in the info centre is very helful too.
