β β β β β A must-do when in Hawkes Bay! ?? Beautiful wines, great service (not pushy and the tastings are free), and a fantastic experience of picking your own delicatessen food items for a picnic amongst the wine barrels, proving to be cheaper and better quality than platters at other wineries. We loved the estate Gewurtz that we returned to buy more!

β β β β β We had our little mini honeymoon in Hawkes Bay with our friends who also got married recently.
We went in to Astern as we thought it looked interesting. We hadn't been there before nor did we book but Tim who was our wine tasting champion served us the most amazing wines, made us feel very welcomed and made sure we had a great time.
We bought a few wines afterwards as well.
Tim was a legend and I hope he sees this!

β β β β β Lovely hidden gem! There were around 20 different wines available to taste (with no charge) and a great selection of food available to build your own gourmet picnic. Definitely recommend a visit for anyone in the area.

β β β β β Today was our 7th visit to Askerne in three years. The beautiful outdoor setting has been further improved and the cellar door extended since our last visit. The choice of gourmet picnic food and variety of wines is superb.
Currently a $60 voucher gets you $50 to spend on picnic food and a bottle of wine, doesn't get much better than that.

β β β β β We stopped here for a family picnic. Such a great selection of food and amazing service. The pre packed kids meals were a really good idea, our children loved them! We chose out some beautiful cheeses, meats, crackers and wines. Thank you for a great experience, we look forward to returning again soon.

β β β β β What a beautiful winery. We literally had the whole place to ourselves when we came on a weekday but even if there were other people around it would've also been enjoyable. It's spaced out well so there's plenty of space and you can also bring a picnic blanket to sit on the ground with some shade provided by the trees.
It's a lovely set up, so you grab a basket and you pick what you want to have. They have a wide range of chutneys, spreads, olives and crackers. They also have fridges which has pates, cold meats, different variety of cheeses and hummus. Then there's another fridge of wine, beer and cider and non alcoholic drinks. Very good value for money, I would say it is even cheaper than getting a cheese board on some of the vineyards I've visited. Overall its a fun way to build your own cheeseboard, choosing what you want to eat. We spent almost 3 hours there. A place we would return to again when we come back in Napier. Staff are also friendly and accommodating :).
