About BakeShack
In 2016, born and bred Tauranga lad, Marty Mayston is now heading up the Bake Shack team. Having worked for a large New Zealand baking company, where he specialised in people, operations and food quality, and then also spending time in Sydney at one of the largest baking sites in the Southern Hemisphere, Marty brings with him an indepth understanding of the industry and an unwavering commitment to delivering top quality products. Embarking on a seachange with his young family by his side, Marty knew that the Bake Shack was the perfect opportunity to bring his expertise back to New Zealand, and to develop a family business in a town that he is proud to call home.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bought two of the cream lamingtons from our local Fresh Choice, they are superb, beautiful and fresh, the cream filling is plentiful, not just at the front of the cake like some others bought over the years.
Will be buying some of these each week now, a gorgeous treat to have occasionally, I just wish I had discovered these a lot sooner.
Well done Bake Shack, keep it up please, love them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful cafe and bakery. Not only is the coffee delicious, they also do catering. It was half hour off their closing time and there was still plenty to choose from which was also fresh and yummy. My first visit here and will be now another go to venue. The ladies on duty were awesome. Also I couldn't fault this venue, which is spacious and clean and equipment looks well kept.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Be aware these people are making up their own rules. I was asked for a vaccine pass while buying a takeaway coffee this morning. I told the person serving me that I wasn't eating in or sitting down so I didn't need to show a vaccine pass. I was told I would have to wait outside while the coffee was being made. I was wearing a mask the whole time while in the shop. Absolutely stupid so called rule as I took longer choosing what I wanted to buy and paying for it, funny how I wasn't asked to wait outside while they took my money from me. The customer behind me wasn't even wearing a mask and was never even asked by the cashier. I complained to the so called manager Bev but she could hardly string a sentence together let alone answer my questions.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Was very impressed by the pies that were had this week. However was more impressed by the friendliness and service from one of the staff members. The young South African sounding lady with the pink hair was very polite and professional - impressive to witness this level of customer service during a week where Covid stress was running a little higher than normal in most businesses... Thanks guys!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I had a sausage roll there and it was the most disgusting food ive ever eaten, usually get a muffin or other pie which is mediocre at best but the sausage roll was 80% onion and 20% mystery meat
