★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had long known this place was here, but I guess it took me four years of living away from the US to finally decide to see what they've got for a bit of nostalgia. I now know that I'm either getting the chicken n waffles (alwayyyssss tempting) or the chili cheese dog again, because that was far better than the aloha burger (I don't think you can even see the patty in the image because there's so much lettuce and other toppings). There wasn't any other hot dog option besides a chicken frank, i.e. no pork or beef dog, but it was still pretty great. Also will have to indulge in that classic nacho cheese fries side next time because that's something you definitely don't see elsewhere around NZ. Lastly, got an A&W root beer + vanilla ice cream float because it's probably been a decade or two since I've had one and I love root beer more than most other drinks. The decor definitely has the diner vibe, although it is starting to feel a little dated in upkeep more than the signage and seating. Bathrooms were clean.

Aside from that, genuinely the most average food we've eaten, especially for the price. I could pay 1/2 the price elsewhere and have a FAR better experience.
The Philly Cheese Steak is meant to be made with just that, thinly sliced steak. What we where given was the same consistency as mince (I'm 99% sure they just used the same mince as the chilli cheese fries).
Charging what they do, for mediocre (at best) food is just day light robbery.
Overall, super lack luster and disappointing.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My partner and I visited Bald Eagle Diner today. Had been served by a very well mannered guy. Placed our orders , we got a basket of curly fries (which were absolutely amazing) and also the southern fried chicken waffles with bacon. If you love waffles and chicken and also bacon (bacon is optional) then you need to try it out. They also have a kids menu, snacks and drinks and deserts too etc etc. Food portions are huge for the chicken and waffles 1 between 2 is also fine unless your super hungry. When in mission bay do check this place out!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This nasty critter was running over my collar as we stared eating and then proceed to me neck when I realised something was actually wrong and scratched my neck. It then ended up on my shoulder/chest where my fiance saw it and freaked out. We promptly just asked for takeaway packaging and left. I suppose if you cleaned you sticky tables and floors better these critters wouldn't be around.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This is a great spot in Mission Bay. Outdoor seating and simple beverage menu - great to enjoy a beer outside on a summer day or even a sunny winter's day ;). The staff are bubbly and on to it, and the food itself is so good. The fried chicken burger is always a winner, but I also have a soft spot for their hotdogs. Best of all though is the loaded fries. Such good flavours soaking through, and good healthy portions for 2 people. Mission Bay being a pricier and heavily-peopled area, dining at Bald Eagle Diner is definitely worth the spend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Excellent food for a summer day! All the staff were lovely and we felt very accommodated for. The decor is stunning, really gave off the american feel. Was such a nice atmosphere overall, even considering it being quite a busy place! HIGHLY recommend if youre ever in the area
