On the way to Akaroa from Christchurch, you find this factory with a small outlet. The staff there was welcoming and friendly. It's a nearly kept, well presented place. From the store you can see them making the cheese. When I was there, they were getting the materials ready for the press. You get to taste free cheese and get to buy them for cheap. Overall a good experience.

A little factory and shop great for a quick stop after coming down the mountain pass. We put together a little wine cheese salami and crackers and then headed to the waterfront at Akaroa and enjoyed the relaxing view and quality fresh produce.

Really good cheese, you can taste test some of the cheeses before you buy as well.

It's always great to visit here on the way to Akaroa. Excellent cheeses and other "stuff". The "oddments" bin seems to be not all that much cheaper than normal these days. Am I right? If the off-cuts are cheaper, why not say by how much? Just saying...

A fine tiny store just on the route to Akaroa. The staffs are friendly and the cheese is nice.

Great cheese and really cool insight into the factory although the staff had the personality of a wet mop which made it less enjoyable.

A drive over to picturesque Akaroa is not complete without stopping on the way to the cheese factory. Operating since 1895 the milk is locally sourced and handcrafted using cloth and wax to mature. If you want to see cheese making in operation you will need to be there by midday. With huge viewing windows you will be able to watch the cheese makers in action. Tastings are on offer and then you may select from the wide range of tasty cheeses to suit all taste buds. Gift boxes are also available or you may just purchase for yourself. My favourite is Peppered Harvati with a bite.

Lovely cheeses and tasting opportunity. Wine, honey and crackers on sale too. Staff are friendly and helpful. A must see on the way through to Akaroa
