About BestStart Oraha Road
We are a New Zealand-owned charity with preschools, kindergarten (kindy), Montessori and early-childhood home-based services nationwide.
BestStart has over 260 early childhood centres from Whangarei to Invercargill. All our centres use the New Zealand curriculum Te Whāriki, preparing children for their formal education at school. Our trained teachers support children to belong, thrive and achieve through the world-recognised philosophy of learning through play.
Our commitment to every parent ensures every child is cared for and supported in a warm, friendly and positive environment. We have excellent staff-to-child ratios, with qualified and caring teachers, quality equipment, toys and a safe and attractive learning environment.

All of teachers take a vested interest in the whole family & as a result have built a really great relationship with us & our little girl. Clear, regular communication, updates and information has been particularly helpful the last few months.
This centre isn’t the closest to home for us but wouldn’t attend anywhere else & highly recommend it to anyone in the area who is looking for a warm, nurturing & loving space for their child to grow and learn.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Being new to Kumeu, we were sceptical of how our daughter would adjust to daycare and as a parent, it is also important to be assured that our child is in safe and good hands. The staff at BestStart Oraha Rd are extremely warm, friendly and loving. They made sure that our child settled well and enjoyed her time. It is a joy to see her go happily and also return with a much broader smile. The Explorer's staff display a genuine enthusiasm for their roles, and the impact that they have made on our daughter's life thus far is just wonderful. She is developing so well and we really do credit much of that to the staff at BestStart. They provide us with daily feedback of how our child has been and the different things she has explored during the day. The centre administrators always have a smile on their face and are so accomodating to us parents aswell, you will feel like home when you are at BestStart. They are understanding and kind hearted group of people. We feel blessed to have found a centre like BestStart.

His langauge, passion for learning and for life continues to grow. The teaching team are supportive, they listen to you and understand what is important for your child. They work alongside you as a parent to support your child's strengths and development. If you are looking for a centre that is community focused and that has your aspirations for you and your child at heart, I would strongly recommend BestStart Oraha Road.

My son started during strict COVID-19 settings, which was challenging at times, but the staff have gone above and beyond to embrace him in their care and assure me he is having a fantastic time. They regularly share photos and learning stories, and he is always smiling when I pick him up - so I know he's having a great time. The centre's communication regarding changes and restrictions due to COVID has always been excellent. It's clear the management and teachers really care about the children in their care and the whanau they are helping support.
