About Bradfords Interiors
On October the 27th, 1953, Basil Pheloung and Neville Pearson opened Bradfords of Broadway Home Furnishers, on Broadway, Newmarket.
In those days it was a daring move to strike out as an independent furniture retailer in New Zealand but it wasn’t long before the response reassured Basil and Neville that they had done the right thing. New Zealanders were ready for something new and innovative, Bradfords of Broadway provided it.
Bradfords offered a complete home furnishing service; from lounge and bedroom suites, occasional tables and dining suites, bedding, curtains and linen, lamps, rugs and fire screens (a very important item then). They were also able to offer a custom design service. Clients could have furniture designed to specifically meet their needs. The furniture was then produced by New Zealand craftsmen who offered the quality that Bradfords required.
In the early 1970’s Basil’s tragic passing away brought to the company his wife, Beverley and her eldest son Mark. Bradfords started to move in new directions. Being a fashion leader the company swung through the sixties, went paisley in the seventies and then grew shoulder pads in the eighties. Through all these decades a strong sense of innovation and imagination has driven the company.
Neville retired at the same time that Bradfords were starting to outgrow their Newmarket site, so in the early nineties the company moved to the Bradfords Centre in Greenlane. The introduction of more family members heralded yet another new phase as the company started to look more and more to Europe for inspiration.
Regular visits to international shows and the selective importation of up to the minute releases now enables Bradfords to offer the latest in design directions from around the world, at the very best prices.
And now in the new millennium, innovation, imagination and design are still the keys used in delivering services and products that are unique and exciting. The Italian influence is now strong in a market that is savvy about good design and expectant of high quality. Bradfords, sixty years on, still offers furniture and furnishing designs that are unique and exciting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ No 'sign-in' nor 'Covid 19 tracer code' here. Other similar furniture places provided this service today. I expected Bradfords would offer this service, too, even if it was not compulsory. We've bought a number of items here in the past but things are very expensive now, and not necessarily better. I'm disappointed in the level of service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ No doubt lovely furniture. I ordered a table returned it but bought two more. Got the new tables home and wanted another. I rang the next day and ordered one more and was reassured by Bernadette that the present price would be honoured. We arranged a date for collection (4 days later) Arrived on the arranged day to be told price would not be honoured and manager was quite rude. My 2 hour journey was in vein. Very disappointed.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I was very impressed with the service I received from Bernadette - she communicated with me multiple times to ensure that the coffee table I wanted was available and then packed suitably for shipment. Many thanks Bernadette.
We also bought two other furniture items from Bradfords several years ago and have been very happy with their quality and appearance.
Another purchase was an outdoor table and chairs which are stunning. However Bradfords had realised belatedly that they weren't suitable for New Zealand/Auckland weather so had discounted them accordingly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Expected to see a higher level of customer service in store. We felt offended by the comments made by the sales staff, namely a shorter and more senior male.
We ended up buying the items online via the website, and the experience was much easier.
Good Furniture, good prices, but sadly one member of the sales staff have made our experience not so perfect.

They have a very good product range and were very helpful in the sales process...not too pushy, offering genuine alternatives, being clear about pricing, so leaving the decisions up to me.
I had shopped around: their pricing was very good value for money. There was a mix up on delivery, but the sales team stepped up and sorted it, rather than inconvenience me...so top marks in service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great quality furniture for everything one would need in one's house with neat friendly and knowledgeable staff especially Deearna, she is lovely. We were basically looking for a dining room table, having looked at around 12 stores, were fairly sold with one from another store but found one here that was the best and exactly what we wanted, just the fit for the theme of our dining room,could have bought another here which was also beautiful but a bit too big. Price ranges are quite varied so would fit a lot of budgets.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ They have out dated furniture and the place looks tired. Their markup is huge, and trust me on this as I was an interior consultant here. They all want their 5% commission and they give 10% discounts out like candy. They’re able to do this because their mark up is huge, and they have “sales” all the time; so wait for them before buying anything. Much better to go to ECC, Matisse or King Living if you're looking for luxury end furniture. This place is run by old people who only see bottom lines and who's style is rather dated. Don't go here it's not worth your time!
