About Bridge to Nowhere Lodge

This brings us to Joe who is the driving force, but also the heart and soul of Ramanui. Joe grew up in Ohakune and has spent a lifetime working and playing in and around the Mangapurua, Mangatiti and what has now become the Whanganui National Park area. He has done such things as opossum trapping, deer and goat hunting, mustering wild cattle on horseback, farming bush blocks and he is truly passionate about the bush and this area in particular. At the Lodge he can turn his hand to just about anything; he cooks a delicious meal, make beds and anything else that needs doing. Joes great love and knowledge of the bush, animals, birds and plants as well as both Maori and European history is obvious when you talk to him, he tells a great story and can keep guests amused for hours. He should however come with a warning sign as he is a great tease and likes playing tricks on people.

Anyway that’s enough about us! We hope you enjoy your stay with “our family” and we look forward to meeting you!

You couldn't get more remote but with ask the home comforts. Quiet, comfortable bed, great dinner and I had wonderful dinner table company. Don't make my mistake, find out what time you're leaving in the morning so you can enjoy your time there!

Very awesome rafting trip and this was our last campsite. Awesome, Awesome. Take cash for the bar that this campsite has, bar has the most amazing view of the river. People really need to do this river kayaking trip.... so amazing.

We had an excellent stay at the campsite/hut. They had a full kitchen with gas stoves, pans, dish soap, and a boiling water dispenser. The views are stunning and there are plenty of nice areas to hang out and eat. Campsite guests are invited to visit the bar at the lodge, where you can buy drinks for a reasonable price and enjoy even better views. The grounds were quiet and serene in the evening. Excellent service from the staff.

We stayed here for our 2nd night of accommodation on a 3 day trip of the Mountains to the Sea cycle trail. Great little spot (we stayed in the lodge) with shared bathrooms and fully catered. The food was delicious, plenty for everyone after a hard day of cycling and there was no issue catering for vegetarians. It was pretty funny that we got given twin beds on our honeymoon! There were washing and drying facilities too - we didn't use them, but it's an excellent addition when you're on a remote trip.

We stayed in the cabins, open air communal kitchen. Perfect place to rest, over looking the river.

Came over for a drink/support the hospitality side of the lodge (as many are suffering during covid). Barman was rude and came off as quite aggressive. Drinks were also way over priced. Wouldn’t have minded such a cost if the hospitality was matched. Disappointing

Friendly, helpful, down to earth staff/owners. Was a lovely break after our second day on the Whanganui river. Spectacular views and a lovely outdoor dining area to enjoy your meals.

Spot on, had a great time and enjoyed our stay at the lodge. For us it was night 3 of a 4 day canoe trip. We were really well looked after and enjoyed a soft bed after stay the pervious night at the John Coull Doc Hut that was humid and a full house, se we needed a bed and a bathroom after that :). Great service and Daryll looked after us. Engaging and a thoughtful host. AAA+
