By far the best takeaways in a 3hr drive radius at least. Operated by kiwis and tastes amazing. The Jumbo burger is spot on - like you'd make at home and nice big golden chips that taste like they're supposed to. Very happy with the awesome customer service too, they went out of their way for me and food still tasted amazing even though I was 15mins late for pick up.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been coming here for roughly 30 years. Same owners from my observations. Generally good price and good quality food. Never gotten sick or raw food (non known) when you ask for your chips well done, 60% of the time they meet the expectations as no one likes the drive home to the family to find soggy wet chips. Nice work Brookfield takeaways.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Firstly, the food quality from these guys is good.
My issue is the poor time management and how long you have to wait, in spite of being told when your order will be ready. We are generally burgers and chips people, so what we often find is that the burgers are prepared much earlier than the chips and so as long as you are happy to have to disassemble your burger and reheat it when you get home, it's fine. The burgers are bagged up, going cold and waiting for the fryer cooking to catch up. Hardly ideal. The last three times I have had to wait 30-45 mins after the time I was told over the phone. When I questioned this I was told "we are really busy", which is great for business but being honest and giving a more realistic wait time would be better. I think they just tell everyone 10-15 mins. I'd sooner leave home later than sit in a fish and chips shop for 30-40 mins. I'm probably going to try somewhere else after my third bad experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It seems they may have changed owners as the quality has dropped significantly. I have included two photos of the same dish, the first one was the I a brought a few months back and the second one was the one that went straight into the bin because it was soaked in soy sauce .
I brought a pork fried rice from here a few months ago, it was cooked by an elderly gentleman. The rice was fluffy and golden, they weren’t stingy with the meat, there were lots of lean pork. Best of all, it wasn’t oily which I was pleasantly surprised. The service was fast and the girl who served me was friendly. Based on that experience, I have recommended it to some friends.
Due to the recent event, I haven’t been back. Fast forward to last week, we were having a few friends over and decided to get the same dish to add to the other dishes.
This time it was a young man who cooked the dish. Just looking at the rice, you can tell he used a lot of soy sauce and the rice was completely soaked it in. The dish was so oily and salty that it was almost inedible, there weren’t many pork and the rice was all dry. Needless to say no one wants any of it after having a mouth full, it went straight into the bin. What a waste of money. It doesn’t deserve 1 star but that’s the less I can go with.
My friends and I have all decided it was not worth going back. It’s a shame, if it had turned out to be just as good as the first one I had, we would have made it a weekly dish.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Really nice Fish, fair pricing. Altho we ordered a sausage & spring roll for the non fish eater, we got home & no spring roll. When I phoned, they were apologetic & said to call in next time we're passing, I wasn't going back across town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ we have been going to this fish and chip shop for over 20years, in the last few year this place has gone to the pack, you call them to place your order they tell you 10mins then you have to wait 30mins and this happens every time. last night I went there to get $5 hot chips and when I called they told me 5mins but then I got there and had to wait 30mins more just for $5 hot chips and when I asked why is it taking so long they said they are busy but I was the only one in the shop. I do feel the Manager just doesn't care about there customers. I told them last night that I will never come back to that shop. I would NOT recommend this Fish and chip shop to anyone

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I recently went here and completed the unofficial food challenge which is the jumbo burger. I thoroughly enjoyed the meal although the salad was perhaps a touch too much. I also got a more than generous Chinese serving to which the lid was not able to fit and received no more than an disappointed glance. Would recommend. 10 crabsticks out of 10 from me.
