Good customer service. Massive range of products. Great prices. Parking is a bit difficult, the entrance and exit need some work. The exit is so narrow it is hard to navigate your way out.

Bunnings is always great and great service but today there was only one person on the counter with more than 10 people waiting and each customer was taking about 3 to 5 minutes to scan their things which means some of us were waiting up to 30 minutes to be served. There was a lot of staff around doing other things surely someone could have helped. This has happened more than once inn the past.

Warning! Bunnings Petone is a dangerous place to visit. DO NOT tell your wife that you will only be a couple of minutes then leave her waiting in the car, you WILL NOT be a couple of minutes; the moment you enter the store you will become the proverbial β€œkid in a candy store”, your eyes will glaze over as you have just entered the realm hardware heaven. Time will become meaningless as you gaze at the range of new power tools. You will find yourself pondering what you own that you could throw on Trade Me to fund this new and exciting tool, this same tool that until 5 minutes ago you had no idea just how much it means to you. You will float down each isle, only pausing to consider how it is that this company can make a profit given their ridiculously low price tags. Call me a slow learner, but after multiple trips to Bunnings and many marriage counselling sessions, I came up with cunning strategy : Step 1, tell the wife you’d like to take her out for a coffee then head to Bunnings she will have already heard from you how great the cafe is and that it has the best priced coffee in the Hutt Valley. Step 2, buy her a nice big slice of cake and a Latte. Step 3, tell her how beautiful she looks today. Step 4, listen to her woes (remembering you only need to pay attention to her last three words). You’ve now got her right where you want her. Step 5 should only be implemented once she’s run out of opinions to share with you (be patient, don’t let your jiggling leg give you away) kindly ask her if she would help you find a nice gift for her mother ( IMPORTANT - give her a budget; $20 should suffice). You are ready now for Step 6, remember timing is everything, slip an unpaid item into her handbag and discreetly tell a staff member you suspect she is a shoplifter. They will hold her out the back for a good couple of hours before the cops arrive…. BOOM!! Now shop at your leisure my brother. :-)

Tried to write a review on their website about redwood sleepers that were supposed to be available and an email I received cancelling (after receiving an order confirmation) my order because it wasn't available (due to global timber shortage, which I can understand) email also told me not to bother trying to order again as I would encounter the same issue. My review only suggested that people shouldn't waste their time trying to order this product as it isn't available and also suggesting that they change their website to reflect this - but they moderated my review and decided it didn't meet their review guidelines. I hadn't been rude in my review so don't think it is fair that they only allow good reviews to be posted.

Worst experience ever today. I hope to never return to bunnings and give you my business. Your manager named Spencer is a huge liability to your company as he doesn't know the basics of customer services. I have no idea how he got to his position which he really likes to flaunt about. We bought a mixer kitchen tap ticketed at $209 and a kids slide ticketed at $39.90. But when we paid for it, I'm glad that I always check my receipts before leaving the counter and not to be surprised I was overcharged. $270 for a mixer tap and $44.90 for a slide. But this guy who flaunted his title on our face wouldn't even listen and kept saying I'm the boss and you have the wrong product which we selected with the help of two of your staff and one of them was Pete who confirmed the price of the tap was $209 and spent almost half an hour selecting it. We kept telling Spencer that the price was ticketed at $209 and we confirmed with pete but he replied in an utmost rude manner ( can't emphasise enough) that it is for $270 take it or leave it. I just can't fathom as he just wasn't accountable for the price ticketed. Instead he and another staff member (I'd presume she was a staff) without uniform in her casuals started yelling at us and started making racial comments to go and learn english language first and get out of our store. You are not welcome here. I mean just wowww! All this embarrassing experience for what, only asking to be charged the ticked price and not being overcharged. I have the photos of the ticketed price and the product. The biggest issue was not being overcharged as we can always return the product or get the refund. But, how we were treated by one of your racist and unaccountable senior staff who wouldn't even acknowledge the mistake on his part of ticketing the wrong price on a product. Would never visit this place again and will always warn others to be cautious of the overcharging issue and terrible senior staff who wouldn't even listen to the issue. Will be contacting Consumer NZ and Stuff for sharing our experience.

Took my doogo shopping with us today. Got a little doggy biscuit at the doorway and were made to feel very welcome. Hubby's favourite shop ever... always heading to Bunnings... Seems they have everything a hard core DIYer could ever want. Always had good service here.

The staff member at the info desk was friendly and pointed out the aisle to find padlocks. What a great range of styles, sizes and prices. The self-checkout worked well. The man supervising the checkouts was super friendly and funny. Having a Cafe on site was a bonus. It was clean and airy.
