β β β β β A basic and friendly campground. The facilities are basic but adequate. It has a good feel to the camp.

β β β β β Ok place for temporary camp. Noisy on the ground with early vehicles leaving from 05.00. Kitchen, laundry and showers great.

β β β β β Booked two nights stayed one. Tent site had no grass just dirt. Office was a mess. Felt pretty unwelcome amongst the long term locals who call this campground home. Really outdated needs an overhaul

β β β β β I'm leaving a 5-Star rating based purely on the couple in the next tent site having a gorgeous Staffie.
In fairness though, the campsite would still score at least 4 stars for the relaxed vibe, generous sized pitches, great pricing, and clean well equipped amenity block.
Thankyou Steve and Martine for a great stay!

β β β β β Was going to stay a couple of nights but could only bear one. The office / reception was a shambles and stank of smoke. Untidy camp with hardly any grass. Needs a good tidy up and some investment. Felt like there was a lot of people living on the site and didnβt seem very welcoming for those traveling through. Only redeeming feature was the Carrick Vineyard next door which I would highly recommend.

β β β β β From the second we arrived we felt very unwelcomed by the two owners and fellow campers whom call this miserable place home. They have a very cult/gloriavale/hills have eyes atmosphere, you are given a list of rules on arrival as if living in a school boarding hostel, there are cameras watching you and the male owner sits hidden away watching the video monitors in their grubby, cluttered, outdated check-in area. Their two children and permanent residents\cleaners living quarters are conveniently placed in all corners of the grounds to have a watchful eye over visitors and are noticeably seen watching your every move. Our cabin porch was an old pallet with dun bell weights under the corners for height. Inside the cabin was 30yr old stained dirty carpet, ripped curtains, bunk beds with recycled wood for slats, and a mattress needing replaced 10yrs ago, a mini fridge which made me gag each time I opened it and tainted our food. There is no ventilation or fan so be prepared to sleep with the door open in summer and no insulation or heater, thereβs nothing like a little frost on the inside of your bedroom windows to humble you. The rubbish bins were overflowing for weeks at a time before being emptied. The motor home waste dump is right in the centre of the campground, I had the pleasure of a front row seats of each disposal from my cabin door, too bad if the wind changed. The clothes washing facilities are ridiculous, theyβre expensive, the machines can only handle a few items at a time to still only get a half clean result and the dryers require multiple cycles to get dry clothes. Very upset after some of my clothes were bleached after using the machine also. The kitchen is grimy and has an unpleasant odour, their communal utensils I suspect are a collect of broken, unwanted belongings from past campers, there are three stove tops but good luck finding one element that produces heat. The communal area lighting is set for certain hours so good luck making a coffee without burning yourself before work. There are freezers available and apparently the owners think it is appropriate to move your food to different freezers without any communication. The outdoor areas are messy and depressing, the grass is either dead or it hasnβt seen the sight of a mower since last winter. The owners and other residents dogs are welcomed to do their business where they please. Unfortunately we werenβt even able to enjoy the central Otago fresh area because of the lingering odour of human waste. Something I still canβt wrap my head around is how the supplied bedding mysteriously disappeared half way through our stay, maybe I didnβt read the fine print saying trespassing and invasion of privacy to be expected.

β β β β β Awesome spot right on the edge of the Lake Dunstan trail. The booking confirmation communication was initially poor i.e. non existent. We turned up anyway not knowing if we had a spot, and we did. Things were great from then on, we even stayed another night.
