★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely staff, we arrived late at night. 11pm check in, we were promptly advised with the details of our stay and was given a afterhours pin number to collect the camp site information. We were located on the lakefront, which could definitely fit a motorhome, boat, truck and tent, tons of space for the family. It was absolutely amazing to fall asleep to the gushing waves and wake up to the most beautiful view of Lake Taupo. We must have left a door open in our car and our battery went flat! Within no time Darren was there to jump start our vehicle which took alot of stress off our shoulders, we were very grateful for him, such wonderful staff. Reception has alot of options to buy essentials if you may have forgotten anything. They have pamphlets of attractions and places to eat, otherwise you have the option of a kitchen and a bunch of BBQ around the site. We ended up wanting to upgrade our stay, even at short notice it was done within two hours so the room could be sanitized. While waiting we went for breakfast at the recommended places 5 mintues down the road from the Holiday Park. Best most efficient, One stop Holiday Park with all you need!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were caught up in a nasty car accident that occurred just outside the park on Christmas Eve. This resulted in our autistic son becoming overwhelmed and not managing to stay at the campsite so my husband packed our site up and returned the next day. We paid for two weeks in advance at the park when we booked months earlier. We figured that would help a struggling accommodation provider through the quiet times. When we left we requested some money returned for our two week booking by email and by phone as we were aware the campsite had been let to other visitors for at least part of those two weeks. We did not ever even receive a response. Pretty disappointed with the whole experience from the campground team.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed here recently with our dog. I have contacted them and I was told that I will be in the hillside area. It was not a hill and no waterview as promised. What I was not prepared for is that the camp is right beside the highway. It was noisy and a bit a dangerous to cross to get to the water. On the positive note, they have clean facilities.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We visited this campground on a road trip with our dog. I should start out by saying the camp itself is fine, if not a little dated. It’s a bit odd that SH1 runs through the middle of the campsite, the camp on the lake side was a lot nicer but literally right next to the highway and not an option if you’re travelling with a pet. We booked the hillside dog friendly sites thinking it would be one of the sites described to be set back from the road and get a view of the lake, the only thing hill-like of these sites are that they are literally on an incline, other than that they’re in a very exposed and busy area which isn’t ideal considering their rules around dogs not barking. The staff were understanding about this not being a great solution and moved us to the non-powered dog sites next to the highway. If you’re a light sleeper these sites are not great but as other have mentioned they do provide earplugs.
Overall, seems like a good campground if you’re going with kids, if you’re going with your dog I’d skip it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not cheap, but stayed several times now. On a hot day the lake side is just to hard to miss. Great facilities and even in summer not to packed. Easy drive from Taupo and on the route sh1 will take you. Friendly staff and clean amenities. Stocked kitchen , wifi and power. For all who comment on the noise of sh1..... Yes it's a highway going through the camp, but we had all the times we stayed a quiet night...if concerned ask for a place up the hill.
