★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We have been ardent supporters of another campground further down the coast for a few years, but because of its big increase in prices, we thought we’d give Camp Waipu a go.
We have stayed in a cabin before there, which was great.
We booked a powered tent site for 5 days the week before Xmas and then another 5 days mid January.
What an amazing experience we have had both times. We couldn’t have been any closer to the beach, than actually being on it.
The facilities are excellent and always so well maintained and kept so clean.
The powered sites that we’ve had so far, have been a really good size- enough for a big tent, a shelter and a trailer.
Free hot showers and free wi-fi are 2 rare features that Camp Waipu has. They even give more, when your 10g runs out.
To top of, the great location, spectacular amenities, the staff are so friendly and super helpful.
We’re already looking forward to our next 5 days in mid Feb.
Hope the weather and surf are as good as the last time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been here a few times, 2 and a half hours out of Auckland, stayed in K1 and K2, cabins are clean (sleeps 5), shared facilities are clean, free use of BBQ area, everything is close 1 min walk to the beach, a good place to relax or swim/surf (or long walks on the beach lols), good for big families book multiple cabins, and couples who just want to get away, very affordable, dairy if you forget coffee or tea, they also do scooped ice cream, and fish and chips yoooo. Cafe Bar and Restaurant across the road, if you want to dine out. but book months in advance this place gets booked early, it is a fav hot spot for alot of people.

Place,the cabins were so good,
Only one small comment a little
Standard lamp (night) in the lounge to soften the night time
Lounge vibe.
Great beach so child friendly .

? But 10out of 10 guys.
Oh yes great little restaurant just
Next to the camp lovely food.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed here for a long weekend off peak, and it was definitely one of the best campgrounds we have stayed in. Very friendly welcome from Lisa when we arrived - she made us feel super welcome and started things off on a really nice note.
We had a powered site. The facilities were really nice and kept clean. The showers are free just with a timer, and well-designed with enough hooks etc. free wifi too which was a bonus.
Great location next to the beach but sheltered enough from the wind. Lots to do in the area - Piroa Falls, markets in the town every second Sunday of the month, and the glow worm caves.
Awesome spot! Highly recommend. Will be back :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a family group of 24 people (from 4yrs - 68yrs). Exceptional facilities - very clean and tidy. Highly recommended. The beach is the highlight with easy access - kid friendly.
We spent 4 nights (only because we were a last minute booking) otherwise we would have been there alot longer. On-site security was also a bonus and really made us feel safe.
