★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed in the area and came here for dinner. Well, we tried. The publican was an unwelcoming, unfriendly guy who wasn't interested in having our custom, despite arriving before the bistro menu close-off time.
Not normal behaviour for NZ country folk, in our experience anyway. It sounds like normal behaviour for him though.
Best to just avoid this place and cook your own, get something from the General Store or go to another nearby town.
