Drunk groundsman nearly hits my kids with the tractor and was blaming me that my kids whent in front of him was very upset. Needs to be more careful of children

Lovely clean, tidy campground, plenty of space. Traffic a bit noisy but still a nice place.

We visited Tirohanga Beach Motor Camp many times since 1995 and knew the camp had new owners. When we arrived on 24 January 2022 we were told we should have arrived on 23 Jan. However Julie had sent an email confirming arrival on 24 Jan. Next we went to Tourist Flat 9 and noticed that there was no toilet paper. We had to get that from the office. Julie blamed teenagers not following their checklist. How about supervision? Next we discovered many other issues like: - Cooking plate is not working properly. We had to get another one from the office - Toilet pan tipping over as one screw was missing and another loose - Shower head so dirty that water flow was restricted and we had to clean it ourselves - Shower had to be adapted constantly as water was too hot or too cold - Tap handles full of green algae - Ants crawling in the cabin everywhere - Dirt and rubbish under the sitting bench - Rubbish behind the bed - Several evenings loud screaming on the camping after 12am - Very noisy neighbours partying till about 11pm - Electric cables dangerously close to cooking plate - Wi-Fi connection very unreliable because of frequent internet connection dropouts. - No bed throw for our 11 year old daughter On Saturday 29 Jan we paid the bill and said we would leave early the next morning. About 15 minutes later we got a young girl, probably their daughter, storming into our cabin with a paper in her hand. We were told we should have left that morning and were expected to leave immediately. According to their booking system 29 January was our last day. I showed her our email confirmation from Julie that clearly said we were leaving on Sunday 30 January. I said their booking system was useless and mentioned other issues we encountered. She went out without making any excuses whatsoever. Very disappointing as Tirohanga Beach Motor Camp was our favorite holiday destination, but not anymore. Update 05 Feb 2022 Got a call from camping manager Julie. 1) I should have mentioned the issues and we would have gotten a discount. Reply: We DID mention most of the issues several times. We were PROMISSED that the toilet pan would be fixed, but this never happened. Furthermore, we pay for a tourist flat for an decent service level. Accepting discounts would compromise my independent review for Google Maps 2) That I make a habit of negative reviews. Reply: Only in exceptional cases I made a negative review and in those cases I mention the facts. I have now amended my list with the few other issues I forgot to mention before.

Stayed in tourist cabins...... Not cleaned from previous people (shower and toilet were filthy), has beds for 4, 2 forks, 6 knives, 3desert spoons and 1 teaspoon.... 2 bowls, 2 salad bowls and 9 plates. Battery was going flat in smoke alarm and no batteries in tv remote, floor was sticking from unknown substance, really sad as my partner had wonderful childhood memories from there. Please pick up your game

Staff were very accommodating by adding us with other Whanau staying there. We were able to have those in tents next to each other & those in caravans next to each other, all organised last minute. Shower & toilets were clean, handy kitchen with fridges, freezers & microwave. Shame the hot water unit for cups of tea wasn’t operating. There are people who come onsite & make great pizza’s. The things to do include swimming on a lovely beach, bike trails, Volleyball net & a pool (not that we used it).

We camped at a non-powered site and had an amazing time. The facilities were always clean, the staff were lovely and helpful, and overall the entire campground is beautiful! Just a 1min walk from the beach, too. Lots of shade and the prices are very reasonable for what you get. Will definitely be staying here again!

What a steal with the prices you pay to stay here!! Me and my partner absolutely loved it such a dreamy spot to be, it was right next to the beach. Camp ground was clean and the bathrooms and kitchen were clean as well, almost slipped on the floor from the cleaning product on it ? and it was very lovely to be greeted with big warm smiles from the staff that were there. Thank you for the dreamy stay
