With a love for good food, strong coffee and some crazy fun, Chaos came to life in 2004. The brainchild of Kerry Vosseler, a high energy chef who loves to explore new ideas.
She decided New Plymouth had a market for an upbeat cafe with a wide variety of food choices, including a large selection of vegan, gluten free and specialty cabinet/menu options. Come on in and see our award winning team and try some of our amazing food or superb Havana coffee.

β β β β β Hey, what a great cafe. Decor is very special and the artwork original and entertaining - especially the flying machine. Service, food, coffee all measure up. Provincial NZ needs more cafes like this. Team, keep up the chaos. I'll be back!

β β β β β Baked eggs were brilliant. While there is no kids menu, the staff were very happy to throw something together for our boys. The coffee was pretty good. When we visited the staff did a great job but it seemed like they were at least one staff member short. My wife's Vaccine Pass was checked...mine wasn't.

β β β β β Made sure to check this out on our little trip to New Plymouth and absolutely loved it! Quirky vibe, awesome staff, makes a delicious Mocha, and the menu had some interesting foods which tasted great! Liked it so much we made sure to come back the next day! Stay groovy team!

β β β β β The Best cafe in Taranaki! Awesome food and coffee, great gf and vegan options, arty decor, but the stand out is the exceptional service with actual personality! I assume the guy that served us owns the place, because he had such humourous yet genuine interactions with us. If he's not the boss he should be!

β β β β β Popped in over lunch for warm cheese scones, latte and tea. The staff member who served us was disinterested, rude and dismissive. Said we would have to wait fro 10 min for a table. All fine so we asked for a takeaway instead. Coffee arrived cold and on opening our cheese scones, found they were stale and had not been warmed. Totally disappointing experience.
