★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great kiwiana stopover!.A blast from the past. Lovely new owners, keen to please. Its been closed a while I hear, only reopened in July.. Garden bar, classic bar with darts etc, simple cafe, & accommodation too I believe. watch the world go by. Quart bottles of beer, chilled glasses. Local that is obviously enjoyed by the farming community. Mighty Rangitiki is only 3 km across the railwayline. If you want to experience traditional New Zealand, this is worth a stop. Highly enjoyed our stop. November 27th 2019

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Driving for five straight hours and happened upon this place. Entered the restaurant and waited several minutes with no lights on for service. No one showed, thus decided to walk around to find the toilet. Only door that was opened was to the bed part of the "bed and breakfast". I entered to look for a staff member or a toilet. A few seconds later, a lady staff member then ran at me and yelled "Leave now, get out! This is private!". This was the only opened door and noone around, yet I was getting yelled at. I then asked her for the toilet. She pointed in a general direction and said "you could have found it that way!" all while pointing to a closed door to a bar. I then asked if I could order food. She immediately sighed and left into the back without a response. I used the toilet then left as no one was there to serve me food. I guess she was having a bad day, so hope things work out better, but was not a pleasant experience for me unfortunately.
