★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A walkway along the coast, connecting Ferrymead to Scarborough.
The Christchurch Coastal Pathway is a community-driven project delivering a world-class walkway – a wide, safe offroad path. Once complete, it will let people enjoy the estuary while travelling the six-kilometre-long coastline from Ferrymead to Scarborough Beach.
The pathway is almost complete, with the last sections in Moncks Bay being constructed in 2021/22.
It caters for pedestrians, cyclists, skateboarders, and people using scooters, wheelchairs and pushing strollers. For more information you can visit the Christchurch Coastal Pathway(external link) website.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you have 30 minutes to one hour to spare start at one end and walk there and back. There is a nice cafe at Redcliffes and another at the end by Sumner before the road to Taylor's mistake. In the summer when it gets hot after 11 am there is a nice sea breeze.
