★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This great supermarket in Barry's Point Road is in a handy location, just across the road from my Suna Pilates. So I visit often to buy a roast chicken and salads for dinner from their well stocked Deli. ?
Yes; they have all the usual Goodies along with a good range of temptations, helpful people, a strong Web presence and self service as well as queue checkout.
AND, very importantly for me as a 'mature bloke' who is not our family's main shopper, they don't move things around too often or too much. This means I have a reasonable chance of actually finding what I'm looking for; Yay! ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service has really gone downhill over the last few years. Constant overcharges on receipt and it takes forever for them to check and when you request a price check they are rude as though the customer is at fault. Also they no longer pack your bags but sigh and fidget as though you are causing the line to slow down.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In store shopping was clean, tidy, and well stocked.
Not a fan of the Countdown click and collect. The substitutions aren't great, so don't allow substitutes, but then you need to go in shop anyway to get everything for meals. Although the locker system works well.
4 stars for the in store shopping. Click and collect would be 2 stars.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visited the store early evening, Wednesday 09 March, and was unable to find the specific chocolate bar I had been asked to buy. At checkout I mentioned this and the staff member, Sharon, offered to re-check for me as the aisle was immediately opposite the counter. When she returned after failing to find the product (it was out of stock), she apologised. I thanked her for trying and was about to leave when she said she would check for stock at other nearby stores. This she did and gave me the location of three stores, one of which was Northcote where I later purchased four bars. Her effort was totally unsolicited, unexpected but very much appreciated. Great service which, unfortunately, is becoming harder and harder to find.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I’ve always been relatively happy with the service at this store although there have been a couple of staff who are consistently grumpy and rude - they are normally the two that need to approve purchases at the self service check out.
We visited this store last night and were hugely disappointed by their staff. I visit the store every week and every week in my shop is wine. Last night we wanted to purchase two bottles along with a few other items.
My partner, who is 30, didn’t have his ID on him so the lady wouldn’t let us buy the wine. We got the manager over who said ‘I 100% believe you are 30 but as you’ve been asked to provide ID I can’t sell it to you.’
Also he lied… he told us that they have the right to ask for ID if they think you look under 30, it’s actually 25!
Such poor service to a very regular customer who will very much be thinking twice before returning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Did my grocery shopping here last night as I was in the area and was extremely disappointed with the customer service, it was basically non existent. It was one of the worst customer service I have ever received from Countdown. When i was at the check out, the till operator (a man with a beard) did not even acknowledge me or say hi, and after my payment he did not say anything either. How rude. If I wanted to be served by a robot, I would have used the self service till and do it myself. I used to work on Barrys Point Road and go here all the time, and loved my experience especially with the outstanding customer service from the Japanese lady. But now I don’t think I’ll be going back.
