★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The worst hotel we've stayed at; not clean
Pro: Nice location near gliding airfield
Cons: My husband (Peter Dulgar) and I booked this room in early 2013 as I was interested in finding out about gliding in Omarama. When we arrived and checked in v. late (almost 10.30pm), I went to the room while my husband got the bags. When I walked in, the bathroom window was slightly ajar and I walked over to close it. The toilet seat was up and someone had defecated in the toilet and left it without flushing. I was horrified, but honestly too tired to see the manager at that point. However, everything else was also unclean: the bed sheets were badly wrinkled and had old stains on them (although they smelled as though they had been washed); further, the beds were so uncomfortable, we ended up sleeping in different beds because otherwise we kept rolling together and then when I did move over to the single bed, it was largely like lying on a big, squishy foam roll. Also the carpet appeared dirty; several areas of the wallpaper were ripped off; and the towel I used for my shower in the morning had a long, black hair on it (I have short, light hair). We haven't experienced anything this bad since communist Eastern European hotels in the 1990s. When we FLED in the morning I understand that I should have addressed this with management, but the woman at the counter just took the key without any query about how our stay was and the manager's office appeared empty. Honestly, I felt dirty and ill after staying at this place and would not recommend it to anyone else. And to continue the saga, although I emailed the manager and he accepted responsibility and promised to refund our money, no refund has been forthcoming four months later (although, I called and emailed several times to follow up). I do not expect to see any money at all and that is why I am sending out this review.
Thank you

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Needs an upgrade to rooms. Lack of light switch within the bathrooms is a safety hazard. Wife fell into the bath whilst trying to find a switch during the night. Fortunately, uninjured. Food was the best we had during the whole of our South Island tour.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Old fashioned hotel which was build in the 60 or 70 and nothing happened since. I think the carpet is even the first one. It's some kind of a time tunnel.
Too expensive for the quality, the personal are mostly work and travel kids, I think.
Don't take the breakfast, it's not worth the money.
But now the good knews: they tried to keep the rooms clean, the view from the dining room was great and the good food quality at diner not expectable!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very outdated hotel. Everything, (and I mean EVERYTHING), hasn't been updated in at least 30 years. Old furniture, old sheets, old bathroom, very old carpet floor. Our room had a musty smell, so we had to keep windows open even though it was chilly outside. Wish I'd read reviews before booking this.
The only positive things are - staff were friendly, and there's a plenty of parking outside.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Well.. nice staffs but the room where we staying is full of toilet smell if you open the toilet door.. We turn the heater on last night and it started warm up from the morning. And this is our 2nd room.. first room was also full of an unpleasant smell and carpet was so old. I sneezed as soon I enter the room. Bed is sooo uncomfortable as well.. I just learned you get what you pay... (but other place were all booked when I was looking for the place to stay. :()

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Building on the outside looks great, inside however room very dated. Fridge so loud we had to turn it off to get some sleep. Milk in fridge frozen and reception unattended when we arrived. Would not stay here again 9r recommend to anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wouldn't recommend this place at all. No one was on at reception, the place was like a ghost town.
My partner is over 6ft and the small double bed would not fit both of us. The room was drab and dark, decor old fashioned, no air conditioning and it was so hot...really needs a spruce up. I had to carry my suitcase up a skinny outside stairwell, no access inside. TV reception was terrible. In fact, we just left and went on to Twizel to stay the night (was still charged the full price on my credit card - anything was better than staying there!)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Comfortable bed, the only thing that put a slight damper on our stay was the tourists clearly not reading the no smoking signs everywhere and smoking in their rooms, this made the passage used to get to our room smelly and also the stench in our room once we returned from the hot tubs. Hoping the $200 penalty was applied to them before they checked out.
