β β β β β One of the fantastic highlights of visiting Christchurch, are these gardens, and within that, this is s must see! Spend some time here and explore. There are multiple rooms and even an unexpected arid area showing cacti. I was here in December and I can just imagine what this place must do for your soul in the winter months!

β β β β β An absolute surprise. So well worth coming to the Botanic gardens to simply wonder around these impressive Glass houses. Really enjoyed the diversity covered by the three separate houses.

β β β β β Tip: if the Cuningham House is particularly busy, head upstairs! For some reason, people seem to like congregating on the lower floor, even though you get equal (or better) views from upstairs.
This iis a series of several interconnected houses, each holding different types of plants. The Cuningham House is full of giant ones (some of which reach the ceiling of the 2-story building!), while the attached Townend House has an assortment of flowering plants that are in bloom year-round.
Note that as of April 2022, the Garrick House specifically is temporarily closed. The main/larger Cuningham House and the attached Townend House are still open, however.
